ConnectWise

Guest client requirements

Introduction

ScreenConnect™ can connect to most devices that have either .NET 2.0+ or the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.9+. Here are the detailed system requirements for the ScreenConnect guest client.

Supported operating systems

Note: While we do our best to support end-of-life operating systems, we cannot guarantee successful performance in all cases.

Windows

  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 10
  • Windows 11
  • Windows Server 2008
  • Windows Server 2012
  • Windows Server 2016
  • Windows Server 2019
  • Windows Server 2022

macOS & OS X

The minimum required macOS version is 10.12 (macOS Sierra) due to the requirement of the OpenJDK 17 runtime for the universal ScreenConnect app.

Linux / Unix

The guest client should be compatible with most distributions as long as Oracle or OpenJDK JRE 1.9+ is installed.

The client should function normally with popular desktop environment such as GNOME, KDE Plasma, or MATE.

Note: For connecting to machines that do not have a desktop environment or GUI, see our article on connecting to headless Linux machines.

  • Ubuntu
  • OpenSUSE
  • Fedora
  • Red Hat Enterprise
  • CentOS

Note: If your desktop environment uses XWayland, you might only see a black screen due to a reported bug.

Mobile

Tip: See our page on mobile app requirements for answers to FAQs on controlling mobile devices.

Supported Browsers

  • Firefox 1.5+ (Linux: requires IcedTea plugin)
  • Safari 3.0+
