File transfer menu
Introduction
The File Transfer menu facilitates sending files to and from a remote machine during a session.
Tip: You can disable file transferring or completely hide the file transfer menu using the Advanced Configuration Editor or defining role-based permissions.
Note: Hidden files and folders will not be transferred.
Select your operating system
Windows
On Windows machines, files will be transferred by default to the C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\My Documents\ScreenConnect directory.
- Send File / Send Folder – Transfer files or folders to the guest machine. The Send Files or Browse for Folder dialog will open, and you can select which file or folder to send. On the guest machine, an explorer window will open and the file or folder will be saved (in Windows) to the default file transfer directory.
- Receive Files – Receive files from the guest machine. The Send Files dialog opens on the guest machine, and either the guest or the host can navigate to the desired file. When the file is selected, click Open to receive the file. An explorer window will open on your machine, and the file will be saved to your default file transfer directory.
- Manage Receive Folder – Change where received files and folders will be stored on the host's machine.
Drag-and-drop file transfer
From a Windows machine, drag and drop files into the chat window to transfer them to your macOS guest. From other operating systems, you can send and receive files and folders by dragging and dropping them into the client window.
Copy and paste file transfer
Use the right-click Copy and Paste commands to transfer files from one specific location to another. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts CTRL+C and CTRL+V.
Tip: Use keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste images directly into the Windows host client from screen capture applications such as Windows Snipping Tool or Snagit.
OS X and macOS
On Mac machines, files will be transferred by default to the ~/Users/{logged in UserID}/ScreenConnect/ directory.
- Send Files – Select files to transfer from the remote machine.
- Send Folder – Select a folder to send to the remote machine.
- Receive Files – Select files to transfer from the remote machine to the host's machine.
