macOS Sonoma: icon notification that client is capturing screen

Problem

Our team have received reports of an icon appearing in the top doc of macOS Sonoma machines after updating from Ventura. This is a Mac icon that is only intended to appear in the dock when any application is actively viewing or capturing the screen, so it is expected to be displayed when remotely connected.

In some cases, this icon appears for users even when nobody is remotely connected to the device through ScreenConnect.

Resolution

Our development team is actively investigating the root cause and potential resolutions for why this icon appears for some users but not others when there is no active session.
